My name is Kim Laros. I am from the Netherlands. I am here in Bali since last September. I have my own business called laroslab. I am a photographer and I create social media content, especially for companies in Holland. There is a new business coming and that is all about fashion.

I’m a creative person, I love to create things. I love to make pictures and show people through my eyes to my pictures. Pictures how the world looks like and Bali is specially perfect for that. The nature here is beautiful, the light is beautiful, and I show people the way I see Bali through my lenses. With photography I can create many things.

I actually started my career as a hairdresser in a hair salons. Because in the past I saw that hair salons had trouble with social media. I then combined those two things I am passionate about. Now I help them with creating and writing their contents. I can do that from everywhere in the world and I decide to do it in Bali.

Before deciding to actually travel abroad to teach, I spent the majority of my career dealing with school management and leadership. It was always a passion of me. I think that being able to be involved in education is a noble thing to do with a lot of benefits and job satisfaction experience.

I started my first career in teaching languages in a school in London, mainly French, Italian, and a little German. I did that for many years. I learned those languages while I was traveling throughout Europe and decided to continue learning in the university. I had the chance to actually spend time in the countries where I was learning the language. It was easier and that stimulated me to teach languages later on.

Learning languages stimulated me to have a real taste of those world. That’s when I started to visit to another countries starting from Europe. Then I spent some time in Africa. It opened my eyes into new culture and new way of living. Then here in Bali, me and my wife opened a restaurant called the traveler to share those experience while traveling.

I was a teacher around the world. I worked at international schools for 18 years. I’m from the USA, Chicago and I also moved around a lot as a child.

My parents moved to Brazil when I was 15 and I went to a private international school. I saw the school, I set up I want to teach in a school like this. From there, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. Because I think I glow like the sun when I’m around children. Even when I was younger I played pretend as a teacher. So, I went to university in the States and then my first job was in the year 2000 in the Middle East in Bahrain.

During my travels, I met my husband. We both are travelers. The world is such an amazing place and I have always been the traveler. So now we opened up a restaurant for the traveler. We want to hear everyone else’s story and the food is a way to bring people together.

I’m from the United States. I grew up in Seattle, Washington and then I lived for many years in a place called Santa Barbara, California. In 1984 long time ago I left the states. I traveled around the world for two years and then I moved to Paris. I was in Paris for seven years full time and then decided to see a bit more of the world. So I started working in the international schools. My first job was in Jakarta. I worked at Jakarta International School and then I went to Ecuador, Nepal, China, and Azerbaijan. Then I decided to find a place to settle. Bali was just one of the place I looked at and it just happened. Everything worked out when I came to look at Bali. I call it a series of fortunate events.

I came here to open a yoga house. Many people doubted me when first opened. But I believe in myself and I believe on this place. Because why would anyone not want to do Yoga here. It’s beautiful and surrounded with the ricefields.

My name is Julie and I am from France. I moved to Bali when I was 13 years old with my family. I have always been a huge animal lover. Since I was 13 when we first went to Bali I started picking up animals in streets already like puppies and kittens.

I found puppy first time in a river when I was cycling with my friend. I took her home. Then after that quite often I would find kittens in the streets, brought them home, found homes for them and it’s just something that never ended.

One time I traveled to Japan and visited the cat cafes there. It was amazing and I thought I should open cat cafes here also in Bali. So, I came back and did a lot of research to do it. I was working at that time so I quit my job to focus more on working with animals.

The objective of the café is really a boarding facility for it to run by itself. So I would like to not rely on relations anymore to help the kittens.
